Chalenge

Here are the directions for the challenge.

Make a character entirely with vectors from head to waist

by using the model provided.

chalenge.zip

First allow the video to completely load.

Watch at the lower right hand corner for the loading to finish.

Open the image: headtest.
The size of image is : 300 by 300 pixels.
Minimize “headtest” down to the bottom of the window.

Open the image body.
The size of image is : 540 by 750 pixels.

In the image body we have 5 layers.
The first layer of bottom: background white.
We can, for better working, to close this white layer temporarily.
Layer: 1body. This shape is obligatory it should not move.
Layer: 2head. This shape is obligatory but can be moved and tilted.
The layers 3ar and 4ag, are the arms which you can modify or
remake with vectors in your own way.

(While respecting the body which is fixed)

Select the layer 2head. Right click on the top of image.
Choose : Copy. Right click outside of the image and Choose>
Paste as a new image.
Minimize the image : body. Select your new image.
Save and name it : head

Under Image,
Canvas Size: Width and Height 300 pixels.
Placement: Center. OK.
In Foreground : choose a skin color.
Suggestion: Add this color to swatches. OK.

Under Selection
click Select All, again Selection>Float.
Add a new Raster layer. Name it : face. OK.
With Flood fill tool, fill in the selection.
Under Selection> Select none.
Raster 1 is selected. Right click, Delete Raster 1.

Save your image
head in psp by using save icon.
Minimize : head.

VIDEO 2

This model should not be used for your work.
It is for you to see how vectors are used to make the face.
However, you can modify this image to change colors and
to modify the nodes at end of study.

Open the model headtest.
Select Pan Tool.
Close all the layers except: head
Select : head.
Open the layers, one by one, and study their internal sub-layers.

Here, we can play with the opacity % of each layer .

Layer starting with: 1 eye is the formation of an eye.
Layer 2 eye is another eye (merged).
The layers mouth, nose and hair are in vectors.

We are studying vectors, so……. The image should not use drop
shadow or cutout for the 3D effect!

However these effects can be suggested by vector drawings on layers
as we see it on the layer: “hair.”

For the head of the character: Only, plain colors must be used.
No pattern, no gradient and no effects allowed!
Just use vector drawings. We can play with opacity of each layer.

VIDEO 3

Open your image : head, start to work your character.
Zoom in if you wish.
We can use the grid as needed. Ex. : Set at 150 x 150.
Or, we can use the guide by select in the rulers.

I suggest starting with an eye.
To make up the character with vector layer .
The remainder belongs to you.
When the face and the hair are finished, merge all the layers visible.
Save image.

Here I am using the image : headtest.
Select the layer head. Right click and choose Merge>Merge visible.
Open the image body.
Stick your head as new layer on image “body.”
With the Move tool position the head.
Delete the layer named 2head.
Minimize the others images.
Outfit the character by using vector layers.
You can use colors, gradientspatterns and textures.
You can use a tiles that you have created yourself.

Once finished, merge the head , the body and the arms.

Here is my merged body.
Open and Select : background white.
Open a vector layer. Name it shadow.
With Pen Tool, Draw Free Hand.
Foreground : close.
Background : pale gray. OK

Draw on this layer a shadow by using vectors.
Convert the layer shadow to raster layer.
Merge, Merge Visible.

Open a new Rastor Layer.
With Text Tool : Sign your image.
Selection>Select none.

Under View : Preview in Web Browser.
The image of 540 by 750 pixels should not exceed 80 KB.
Save in GIF or JPEG.

Important: name your image: vectorpsp_yourname

No spaces in the name. Use a underline.
Example:
vectorpsp_holder
vectorpsp_mezam
vectorpsp_mary
vectorpsp_antoniobanderas

To take part in the challenge, you must conform to the rules.
The image must be stored on a Web site and then shown on
the group Plus PSP in the forum: PlusPlace.

The image could be store here: photobucket.com
