Open Paint Shop Pro.
Open the  6 tiles folder: cadre
Open a new image of 400 x 400 pixels.
Background: check the mark.
Transparent: check.
OK

Select Pan Tool
Set to black and white.

Image 1

The Image 1 is a  tile  custumized with a  Seamless tiling effect
The image is in psp and the layer name: orange.
Select the test image of 400 x 400 pixels.
In Styles and textures, make a click in the foreground.
Select: Pattern.
A clic in the small window and select the pattern 1.
Angle: 0
Scale: 100
OK

With the tool  Flood Fill , fill the image.
There is no demarcation.
Undo the last operation.

Image 2

The Image 2 is in anticipation of a tile. This is a JPG.
Select :  Window, Duplicate.
Close the original image.

In the Layer palette, the layer is named:  arrière-plan (background.)
Make a click on the layer, with the right side of the cursor and turn it into a regular layer.
Save it in PSP, and give it a name.
Example: 7coincoin.

We will apply on this image a Seamless tiling effect.
Select: Effects, then choose Image effects, then select Seamless tiling effect.

In the Seamless tiling effect window, select : (preview image) to see the behavior on the tile.

In the settings:
Method: angle
Direction: bilateral.
Offset :  H and V. In the example it is 10
It is a question of choice.
Modify the offset to see the effect.

Transition:
Here again, it is a question of choice.
In the example, it is 30.
Modify the transition to see the effect.
Style angle: in the example it  is:  Linear.
Make your choice.
OK
Save

Select the test image of 400 x 400 pixels.
In Styles and textures, make a click in the foreground.
Select: Pattern.
A clic in the small window and select the pattern : 7coincoin
Angle: 0
Scale: 100
OK

With the tool  Flood Fill , fill the image.
We could choose a different angle.  
Example: 45 and decrease the scale to 40.
See the behavior on the test image.
Undo the last operation.

Image 3

The Image 3  is in JPG.
Select : Window, Duplicate.
Close the original.
Transform the  layer into a regular layer.
Save it in PSP and give it a name.
Example: 8bleujaune
This image did not have a Seamless tiling effect.

Let see the effect on the test image  400 x 400 pixels.
Foreground, Pattern, select the 8bleujaune pattern.
Angle: 0
Scale: 100
OK

Fill the image with the  Flood Fill Tool
We  see very well the demarcation.
Undo the last command on the test image.

Select the tile  and apply a Seamless tiling effect.
With the same configurations.
OK
Save

Select the image test, Foreground, select Pattern  and choose the tile 8bleujaune.
Choose your configurations.
OK

Fill the image with the Flood Fill Tool
We have no demarcations.
Undo the last command on the test image.

Image 4

The Image 4 is in JPG. It comes from the Web.
This tile  already had a Seamless tiling effect, it is ready for use.
You can experience it on the test image


Image 5

The Image 5 is a GIF
This tile had a Seamless tiling effect, it is ready for use.
You can experiment it on the test image.

Image 6

The Image 6 is in the gray tones.
Duplicate window.
Close the original.
Transform the layer into a regular layer.
Save it in PSP, and give it a name
Example : 11nb

Even in transforming it into regular the layer remains in the gray tones.
That does not hamper to do on the image a Seamless tiling effect.
But, if we want to add on this layer a color with the brush, example a red, we are unable.
We will have the choice of 85 color from white to grey.

To edit any image in tones grayscale image that can accept colours.
Select : Image and select Increase the color depth and choose: RGB 8 bit channel.
Save

In the next lesson, we will need tiles, having a Seamless tiling effect.
